Are you worried about the cost to rent a boat in Greece? Well, we made this a worry-free sailing holiday in the Greek islands.

You only pay the boat charter price and the fixed charge prior your sail day, and that’s all!

After surfing the web and checking different yacht vacations prices options, for sure you have seen that renting a yacht has many similarities to renting a car. Firstly, you have the yacht renting price paid to the charter company. Secondly, as you go, you cover all the other aspects and costs involved. This is quite similar with a car – gas, toll rates, parking fees etc.

In a similary way you can also rent a boat in Greece  This is very important when you want to budget your sailing holiday. With the majority of the charter companies, what you have to do is to add on top of your charter rate all the other expenses as they will appear during your sailing holiday in Greece. What make this approach inconvenient? The total and final price of extras for a yacht is un-known until you are actually on board. It all depends on many factors ( destinations, wind condition, etc).

To summarize, except the skipper charge (which for most cases is around 190 – 220 euro/day), ALL the other extras charges vary on several details. An important aspect is the fuel. How many liters of fuel will be consumed, is determined on how many hours the engine will be running each day. To be more specific, the fuel costs depend on the wind conditions and the distance you need to cover for the itinerary you prefer. You may ask yourself, “why are we talking about fuel, when we will sail?”. For a better understanding of this, please read the paragraph marked with **

“All boat expenses included” bundle

This is why, in order to avoid all this hassle and worries, we have introduced the “All boat expenses included” bundle . This package deal includes all extras that apply when chartering a sailboat throughout your holiday. To enumerate, everything from fuel to skipper payment, the final cleaning are included in this bundle. Like this we guarantee you a hassle free holiday. You simply have a fixed charge of 330 euro/day/boat, not per person. This fee is split in between all the persons in your group prior to your sail day and that’s all! No expense account open, no hidden charges – no trouble.

** How much fuel will we use ?” To explain and answer this question we would need to know not only how far you are planning to go (what itinerary) but also the exact weather in the area.

For an easier understanding, let’s assume a sail from Mykonos to Paros. These two islands are 28 nautical miles apart.

  • – If the wind is favorable, a sailboat can cover the distance only under sail power. By assuming a convenient wind speed of 11-13 knots or more, a sailboat sails with a good speed around 6-7 miles/hour. So, if there is a proper breeze, you would be getting to the destination in around 4 hours ( 28 miles distance/7 knots speed).
  • – But the winds can sometimes be too weak or blowing from an unfavorable direction. In this case, the traveling speed of a sailboat powered by sails can drop remarkably. In particular it can drop even as low as a couple of miles/hour. So, if you attempt to save fuel and just travel on wind power. Like this you will cover the same distance in 9-10 hours instead of 4. This leaves no time for swimming or enjoying the island you are heading to. In this case, the engine is what saves the situation. Namely it will power the boat to go up to the regular speed of 7 knots. Like this you arrive at the destination you wish, when it was planned and at an appropriate time. Only when travelers understand they want to fit in each day not only the traveling time but also several other activities ( a stop for a swim, a few hours for visiting the destination they reach, dinner, shopping, etc ) – the above aspect becomes particularly important.
  • – Provided that we have an average of 4 hours travel time, will give you the possibility to mix all these in a single day. But not if you attempt to move only at the mercy of wind.
ROUND TRIPS

Our base is in Paros island and this is where embarkation / disembarkation typically takes place. Alternatively Mykonos embarkation / disembarkation can be arranged whenever possible.

ONE WAY TRIPS

Upon previous arrangements a pickup or drop off at a different island in the Cyclades ( Santorini, Milos, Naxos, Sifnos, etc) might be arranged

Depending on each situation, a one-way fee applies in order to cover the cost of the sailboat traveling empty from the base/regular embarkation point (at Paros -alternatively Mykonos) to the pick up point of your choice ex Santorini. The cost as the fuel plus the charter rate for the day/s when it cannot be chartered as it will be traveling to the island you prefer to embark at).
Thus the one way fee depends on the distance to the destination chosen and can vary from 250 euro to 900 euro.
