Let’s explore the Greek islands !

Greece is the best place for vacations, and the Greek islands have so much to offer. Every day you can:

  • take in the wonderful harbor-town
  •  wander the narrow streets
  • enjoy local specialties at water-front taverns
  • visit ancient ruins and temples
  •  go for a hike
  •  hire a car or moped and explore the inland,
  •  shop or mingle with the locals.

Meal arrangements

It’s up to you to decide what and how you would like to have your meals while sailing the Greek islands.

You can go on shore and enjoy the local cuisine or you can cook on the boat, as the sailboat is equipped with a fridge, gas cooker and a fully equipped galley.

Breakfast: it’s just a small decision of how you would feel that morning. Either going on-shore and have breakfast and coffee at one of the many restaurants which in all of the Greek islands are right behind the boat, or you’d prefer to make your breakfast on board.

Lunch: the best and most relaxing thing to do is to plan for a light snack on board, as most probably you will be spending the day sailing, enjoying a beautiful crystal clear water bay, swimming and sunbathing, thus there is no point to interrupt these wonderful activities in order to find a restaurant.

Dinner: the best decision would be on shore. At every harbor or place you will be spending the night, you will have many options of traditional Greek taverns serving delicious food. The Greek cuisine is something that you should not miss. Every island has its own specialty, and yes, you have to taste them all!

Destinations – Itineraries

Yacht charter in Greece – our advice:

The more flexible you are the more you are going to enjoy your sailing trip. Our advice would be not to set your mind on a specific itinerary. Just by looking at a map or reading a travel magazine you can’t truly understand what you will enjoy more from life on board a yacht. Let the Greek islands amaze you, and with our suggestions, after the first 1-2 days on board, if will be very clear what you like most and what you’d like to center your sailing vacation around (it might be sailing, or swimming, or having extra time to hang out in a bay or exploring the islands).

Just arrive in Greece with an opened mind and ready to take in the landscapes of wild beauty, authentic villages, many alternative activities and charming family-run taverns. Contact us for more details.

We made this a worry-free sailing holiday. You only pay the yacht charter price and the fixed charge prior your sail day, and that’s all!

Surfing the web and checking different yacht vacation options, for sure you have seen that renting a yacht has many similarities to renting a car. You have the yacht renting price paid to the charter company and as you go you cover all the other aspects and costs involved . Quite similar with a car – gas, toll rates, parking fees etc.

Renting a yacht is shaped in a similar way, which is very important when you want to budget your sailing holiday. With the majority of the charter companies, what you have to do is to add on top of your charter rate all the other expenses as they will appear during your sailing holiday in Greece. What make this approach inconvenient is that the total and final price of extras for a yacht is un-known until you are actually on board as it depends on many factors ( destinations, wind condition, etc).

Except the skipper charge ( which for most cases is around 160 euro/day), ALL the other extras charges vary on several details. Like the mooring fees for each night; they can range from 50 euro/night to under 10 euro or even 0 at some places. .. An even more important aspect is the fuel: how many liters of fuel will be consumed, is determined on how many hours the engine will be running each day. More specific, the fuel costs depend on the wind conditions and the distance you need to cover for the itinerary you prefer. You may ask yourself, “why are we talking about fuel, when we will sail?”. For a better understanding of this, please read the paragraph marked with **

This is why, in order to avoid all this hassle and worries, we have introduced the “All boat expenses included” bundle . This package deal includes all extras that apply when chartering a sailboat throughout your holiday. This means that everything from fuel to skipper payment, harbor fees and even the final cleaning are included in this bundle to guarantee you a hassle free holiday. You simply have a fixed charge of 240 euro/day/boat, not per person, split in between all the persons in your group prior to your sail day and that’s all! No expense account open, no hidden charges – no trouble.

** How much fuel will we use ?” In order to answer this question we would need to know not only how far you are planning to go ( what itinerary) but also the exact weather in the area .

For an easier understanding, let’s assume a sail from Mykonos to Paros that are 28 nautical miles apart.

  • – If the wind is favorable, a sailboat can cover the distance only under sail power. Assuming a convenient wind speed of 11-13 knots or more, a sailboat sails with a good speed around 6-7 miles/hour. So, if there is a proper breeze, you would be getting to the destination in around 4 hours ( 28 miles distance/7 knots speed).
  • – But the winds can sometimes be too weak or blowing from an unfavorable direction. In this case, the traveling speed of a sailboat powered by sails can drop remarkably – even as low as a couple of miles/hour. So, if you attempt to save fuel and just travel on wind power, you would be covering the same distance in 9-10 hours instead of 4. This leaves no time for swimming or enjoying the island you are heading to. In this case, the engine is what saves the situation – powering the boat to go up to the regular speed of 7 knots, thus arriving at the destination you wish, when it was planned and at an appropriate time. The moment travelers understand they want to fit in each day not only the traveling time but also several other activities ( a stop for a swim, a few hours for visiting the destination they reach, dinner, shopping, etc ) – the above aspect becomes particularly important.
  • – Having an average of 4 hours travel time, will give you the possibility to mix all these in a single day. But not if you attempt to move only at the mercy of wind .
